Judith
Mackey's artwork features landscapes, sunsets, sunrises, work and
seasonal glory of her home, the Flint Hills. Her work captures the
colors and tells the story so familiar to this part of the country.
Mackey is a self taught artist who prefers being on location to paint,
especially in the early stages of a painting. Mackey was inducted into
the American Royal Western Art Association in 1988. She holds the
distinction of being the first women and Kansan to hold this honor. Her
work is collected world wide. One of her prints “ Storm Over the Flint
Hills” was used on the cover of PrairieEryth by William
LeastHeat-Moon.
